THE WORLD (TRAVEL BY YACHT) 

 

The family is seeking an experienced PRIVATE EDUCATOR to provide an engaging, highly personalized curriculum for three bright and inquisitive children in elementary and middle school. This position has rotational scheduling and frequent travel to the family’s various residences and destinations, including land and yacht-based travel both within the United States and internationally.

The ideal candidate is a certified teacher with demonstrated success in traditional and alternative learning environments. They must be confident in developing a structured, standards-aligned curriculum and in implementing lessons that are academically rigorous and individualized. While creativity and flexibility are valued, the educator is expected to maintain clear expectations, strong classroom management, and consistent academic accountability. 

This is a true team-based role. Responsibilities include curriculum development, weekly planning, tracking academic progress, and consistent communication with the family and care team.

Pay rate is open and dependent on experience. A benefits package is to be determined and is negotiable.

 

Qualified candidates should have:

  • A teaching certificate with relevant classroom or private education experience 
  • Experience with elementary and middle school aged children
  • Special Education certification preferred 
  • A strong understanding of executive functioning challenges, positive behavior strategies for children with ADHD and neurodivergent profiles 
  • Familiarity with programs such as Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell
  • Willingness to travel extensively with the family on a rotational schedule, adapting to different locations and schedules

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customized Curriculum Development Design and implement tailored lesson plans for each child, aligning with recognized academic standards (U.S. curriculum or equivalent). Ensure core subjects (Math, Reading, Writing, Science, History, etc.) are covered while also incorporating each child’s learning style, interests, and developmental needs. 
  • Weekly Education Planning: Progress Updates Track each child’s academic progress using formal and informal assessments. Provide concise, regular reports to parents that outline achievements, areas for improvement, and recommended next steps. Adjust lesson plans promptly to address any identified learning gaps or emerging interests. Develop academic plans outlining goals, activities, and milestones for each child.
  • Communication: Communicate regularly with family and care team to discuss progress, address challenges, and make necessary adjustments. 
  • Travel Education Integration Incorporate real-world learning opportunities tied to the family’s travel itinerary, including cultural excursions, nature exploration, and relevant historical or geographical studies. Demonstrate flexibility and creativity in adapting lessons to various locations, environments, and resources available.

  • Trustworthy; Discreet: High level of integrity, with the ability to handle situations with care and discretion 
  • Previous experience traveling on yachts or being comfortable at sea 
  • Calm Under Pressure: Able to regulate energy, respond to dysregulation with empathy, and maintain consistent routines and boundaries.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • BA/BS COLLEGE DEGREE | AA IN RELATED FIELD OF STUDY | OR A MINIMUM OF 5+ YEARS OF PROFESSIONAL NANNY EXPERIENCE
  • UP TO DATE FIRST-AID & CPR CERTIFICATION (WILLINGNESS TO RENEW AS NEEDED)
  • THE ABILITY TO MAKE A ONE-YEAR COMMITMENT UNLESS APPLYING FOR A TEMPORARY POSITION
  • A PASSION FOR WORKING WITH CHILDREN
  • 5+ YEARS OF CHILDCARE EXPERIENCE IN ANY FIELD
  • EXCELLENT WORK AND PERSONAL REFERENCES
  • U.S. DRIVER’S LICENSE (THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO NYC RESIDENTS)
  • MUST BE A COMPETENT SWIMMER (IF AND WHEN REQUIRED)
