Overview

Infant Close Up

CARLSBAD, CA (OPEN TO RELOCATION CANDIDATES) - A warm, professional family in Carlsbad, CA is seeking an experienced Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) to provide overnight coverage and infant support for their newborn, due in April 2026. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned NCS who is passionate about newborn care, family support, and establishing healthy sleep and feeding routines in the early months of parenthood. The role is for 3 - 6 months!!

The family will also have a daytime nanny providing complementary daytime support focused on maternal recovery, nursery organization, and light household assistance. The NCS and nanny will work in close collaboration to maintain continuity between nighttime and daytime routines, ensuring smooth handoffs, aligned feeding schedules, and a consistent developmental approach.

The ideal candidate will bring a calm, knowledgeable, and encouraging presence, with a proven ability to guide first-time parents through the newborn stage. A strong background in infant development, gentle sleep conditioning, and postpartum family care is essential. The family values professionalism, open communication, and adaptability, and seeks an NCS who is proactive yet respectful of the household’s rhythms and preferences.

The candidate should be passport-ready, as the family plans to travel internationally and would like the option for their caregiver to accompany them. The home is located in a safe, family-friendly suburb of San Diego, and the family has two friendly cats, so comfort around pets is important. All candidates should be up to date on CDC-recommended vaccinations, including Tdap, influenza, and COVID.

SCHEDULE: 5 nights per week, approximately 8 PM – 8 AM (with flexibility as needed)

COMPENSATION: $45+/hour, commensurate with experience

BENEFITS: Paid sick days, holidays, and vacation; relocation assistance available for the right fit

The family seeks a warm, bilingual (preferred but not required) professional who takes initiative, communicates clearly with both parents and the daytime caregiver, and helps ensure a smooth, nurturing transition into life with their new baby.
