A kind and respectful family in Aiken, South Carolina is seeking a warm, highly organized, and tech-savvy Personal Aide / Caretaker to support an elderly couple in their daily lives. This position is live-out and requires approximately 30–35 hours per week, typically between 9 AM and 5 PM, three to four days a week. Compensation is $30/hour gross via payroll, and candidates must be local.
While support will be provided to both, the primary focus of this role is caring for and assisting the mother, who is navigating memory loss and requires consistent companionship and guidance. The father is beginning to experience some similar challenges but also has outside support three days per week. The family is looking for someone who can provide steady, compassionate care while also bringing structure, enrichment, and joy to the household.
Organization and management skills are an absolute must, as you will be responsible for overseeing calendars, consolidating medical appointments into no more than two days per week, and ensuring they still have time to enjoy the activities that bring them happiness. The father loves golf and swimming, while both parents enjoy the arts and would love to attend shows in Columbia with your help in coordinating and providing transportation. The mother also cherishes her time with her grandchildren and hopes to volunteer in their schools; you will assist her in completing the necessary online training courses to make this possible.
Daily responsibilities will include driving and accompanying them to and from appointments, assisting with meal preparation and grocery shopping (or coordinating deliveries), and helping with laundry and ironing as needed. The couple follows a Mediterranean diet high in fish, so comfort with meal planning around this is important. With a housekeeper already coming twice weekly, household cleaning duties will be light; instead, the emphasis will be on helping the mother stay engaged and ensuring the household runs smoothly.
The ideal candidate will be extremely neat and detail-oriented, with strong organizational and management skills. They must be team-focused, as they will work alongside existing support, and experienced in offering kind redirection for elderly individuals as needed. The right person will be proactive, compassionate, and patient, while also maintaining the high level of tidiness and order the family values.
This is a truly special opportunity for someone who finds purpose in helping others—offering not only practical support but also encouragement, companionship, and stability—ensuring the couple can thrive with dignity, wellness, and connection in their daily lives.
