WASHINGTON, DC (LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY)-- A warm, professional family relocating from London to the Foxhall neighborhood of Washington, DC, is seeking two exceptional ROTATIONAL NANNIES to join their household in a long-term, team-oriented role. The family has two children, an easygoing and curious 3-year-old boy and a bright, independent 6-year-old girl who loves to read. Both children are easy, well-behaved and self-sufficient for their ages.
The schedule is a live-in rotational setup: either 15 days on/15 days off or one week on/one week off. Flexibility is key, as longer rotations may be needed during family travel. Typical hours are from 7:00/7:30am to 8:00pm, though the family requires 24/7 availability during working weeks. A family car will be provided for use on the job. While on duty, the nanny will have private accommodations (a bedroom and bathroom within the home), and during off weeks, they will live out. The current nanny will help with onboarding and training to ensure a smooth transition.
Ideal candidates are experienced, organized, and proactive professionals who bring positive energy to each day. The family values candidates who are kind, self-sufficient, and go above and beyond without being asked. Someone who takes initiative to plan thoughtful activities, organizes playdates, and keeps the kids engaged and learning through play. They hope to find nannies who have worked in similar capacities and understand how to foster a respectful environment for children. A strong sense of responsibility and tidiness is essential.
Duties include getting the children ready and off to school in the mornings, handling children’s laundry and linens, managing their dishes and meal clean-up, and keeping their spaces neat; ideally, engaging the children in tidying and age-appropriate chores to instill values of responsibility. While the position is focused on the children and child-related household tasks, they would appreciate a nanny who is open to helping with occasional errands, grocery runs, or other light household tasks while the children are in school. The family employs a full-time housekeeper, so no deep cleaning, etc. will be required.
The 6-year-old will be in school full-time Monday through Friday, and the younger child will attend school half days, 3 times a week, moving toward full-time in the near future. During school hours, the nanny will assist with errands and household tasks such as organizing, children’s laundry/linens, planning playdates and activities, helping with party prep, etc. Cooking for the children is a plus, although Mom often handles that herself.
The family travels internationally 2–3 times a year (up to one week at a time). They frequent destinations in India and Europe, as well as some domestic spots, and would love for their nanny(ies) to join! Parents travel independently and often for work, so the nanny must be comfortable manning the household independently. A valid passport is required.
Compensation is highly competitive and based on experience, along with a health insurance stipend and paid time off (to be coordinated with the co-nanny). Must be willing to work some holidays.
This is a special opportunity for a high-energy, playful, and polished caregiver who is passionate about childcare and looking to join a thoughtful, kind, and professional family long-term. Start date is between mid-July and August.
Health insurance stipend and paid time off (to be coordinated with the co-nanny).
