RED HOOK, NY (LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY) - A warm and welcoming family in Red Hook, NY seeks a PART-TIME LIVE-OUT NANNY to provide consistent and compassionate after-school care for their bright, animated, and creative 10-year-old. This role offers 20 guaranteed hours per week, ideally Monday through Thursday, from 2:00–7:00 PM (with some flexibility).
The child is extroverted, expressive, and enjoys nature, animals, sports, and the arts. They are thoughtful and generous, with a vibrant personality that lights up a room. The child identifies as nonbinary and genderfluid, and the family seeks a nanny who is supportive, inclusive, and respectful of gender diversity.
The child has type 1 diabetes. While previous experience managing T1D is a plus, it is not required—training will be provided. The nanny simply must be open, willing to learn, and attentive to the child’s health needs. The child uses an insulin pump, managed through an iPhone app, and is beginning to take on some self-management responsibilities. However, the nanny will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of diabetes care and monitoring while on the job. Mom works from home and is available for real-time questions and support.
The child’s weekly after-school schedule includes multiple extracurricular activities, including dance, soccer, and music. The nanny will be responsible for school pick-up, driving to and from activities, homework help, snack and light meal preparation for the child, as well as supervising playdates, crafts and projects, and playground visits when the weather and time permit. While the family can provide a vehicle for use while on the job, mileage reimbursement is also available if the nanny uses their own car. Must have your own vehicle to drive to/from work.
The household includes a friendly, well-behaved Golden Retriever. The family seeks a reliable, nurturing, and committed caregiver who genuinely connects with their child and is open to a long-term working relationship. Their current nanny of eight years is transitioning to fewer hours while pursuing graduate studies, so the family is looking to build a thoughtful schedule between two trusted caregivers.
The ideal candidate is kind, attentive, and experienced with school-aged children. A minimum one-year commitment is requested, with the possibility for additional hours in the future if mutually desired.
Compensation is $30/hour, paid via payroll, and includes paid sick days, holidays, and vacation. The nanny must be fully vaccinated, including COVID-19, and flu vaccination is appreciated. A non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is required upon hire.
The position begins ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to become part of a collaborative household that truly values the important role of a caregiver.
