Kids doing Homework

THE WORLD (TRAVEL BY YACHT) - A globally-minded family is preparing to embark on an extraordinary educational journey around the world and is seeking a ROTATIONAL PRIVATE EDUCATOR to join their dynamic team. This role will primarily take place aboard a yacht, with additional land-based travel to culturally rich destinations (exact itinerary to be determined). The family is seeking a passionate, experienced educator who can offer an engaging and highly personalized curriculum for three bright and curious children, ages 6, 11 and 13.

The ideal candidate will be a certified teacher with experience in both traditional and alternative educational environments, and confident designing curriculum aligned with U.S. academic standards while also tailoring lessons to each child’s individual learning style and interests. Creativity, adaptability, and a love for experiential learning are key—lessons will regularly draw from real-world cultural, historical, and environmental experiences based on the family’s travels. A strong understanding of neurodivergence, especially ADHD and sensory processing challenges, is highly valued, and candidates with training in movement-based learning and multisensory instruction are encouraged to apply.

This is a true team-based role, as the educator will work closely with another ROTA educator and two rotational nannies to ensure continuity and a supportive educational environment. Responsibilities include curriculum development, weekly planning, tracking academic progress, and consistent communication with the family and care team.

The position follows a rotational schedule (approximately 4–8 weeks on/off, with shorter rotations at the beginning as the children acclimate).  Accommodations will generally include a private cabin aboard the yacht, and private rooms and bathrooms during land-based stays when possible.

This role is ideal for a highly professional, flexible, and adventurous educator who thrives in dynamic settings and is excited by the idea of helping shape a once-in-a-lifetime educational experience. The family is looking to onboard their educational team in late June/early July, with a soft curriculum launch and in-person time with the children beginning in early August. They anticipate traveling for 2 years but this is subject to change.

Pay rate is open and dependent on experience. A benefits package is to be determined and is negotiable.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • A teaching certificate and relevant classroom or private education experience
  • Experience teaching children with ADHD and/or other neurodivergent profiles
  • Governess experience or teaching experience with a combination of in-home private nanny experience with ages 6,11,13.
  • Familiarity with programs such as Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell, Zones of Regulation, Brain Gym, and other movement-based learning tools
  • A calm, empathetic demeanor and a creative, playful approach to education
  • STCW certification (or willingness to obtain before start date)

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced educator who values adventure, flexibility, and child-led learning. If you are passionate about global education and ready to bring academic structure and magic to a truly unique lifestyle, we’d love to hear from you.
