NEWBURGH, NY-Amazing single mom living in the HUDSON VALLEY is looking for a WEEKEND/WEEKNIGHT NANNY to help care for her 18-year-old son with Down Syndrome. He has had the same caretaker since he was an infant who primarily cares for him during the daytime Monday-Friday, but they are looking for a second caregiver for occasional weeknights and weekends when mom or the daytime nanny have commitments. Mom is willing to guarantee pay for 72 hours per month for the nanny to be available 2-3 weekends and 2 weeknights per month whether or not all hours are worked. In general, hours of availability would be from 9am-9pm Saturday, 9am-6pm Sunday and 6-10pm two weeknights per month. Flexibility is a must for this fluid schedule, but mom is equally flexible and willing to work with the candidate to provide some structure. Although it is not required, there may be opportunities for possible overnights down the road (2 per month max) if the candidate desires—subject to mom and candidate agreeing that it works for both parties. POSITION MAY BECOME FULL-TIME from 8am-6pm Monday-Friday come June. Duties outside of traditional care include light meal prep and laundry for the child. He is nonverbal but is easy to understand and communicate with. The ideal candidate has experience working with persons with special needs such as Down Syndrome, autism, nonverbal, etc.  Nanny must be comfortable helping him with activities of daily living. He loves to swim (must be a strong swimmer!), play ball, and music. Nanny will initially work alongside mom, who is very hands on, and their daytime nanny to learn about child’s personality and needs for a few weeks as well as a few weekends before transitioning to full autonomy. Out of precaution due to COVID-19, candidates MUST be from the HUDSON VALLEY and have their OWN VEHICLE (NO USE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION or commuting to and from NYC). Must also be willing to be tested for COVID-19 or strictly quarantine for 2 weeks prior to start. Pay is open DOE. Start date is ASAP!
